I am a paediatric trainee originally from Sudan. Since starting in the NHS in 2019 I have been a fierce advocate for IMGs in my deanery after experiencing a difficult start myself. I am the IMG representative on the Peninsula school board, a role I created to allow for more support for IMGs in the deanery. I have advocated and created IMG simulation days in the deanery and IMG induction days. I am currently a fellow for Equality diversity and inclusion with HEE Southwest, a role which has allowed me to develop a simulation package specific for ED&I themed simulation sessions. I also hold regional specialty wide IMG inductions and webinars.
I have been a part of the Soft-landing team as their regional representative, this has allowed me to be a part of IMG support for paediatricians on a national level and I am excited to take on this new role as Co-IMG officer with the PEDSIG committee to advocate for specific and targeted IMG education opportunities.
I have a PgCert in Medical education with interest in sim and I am currently undertaking A PgCert in healthcare leadership and management.
